Abstract

The resonance effectbetween the localized surface plasmon mode and excited excitons in organicmaterials can enhance the optical and electrical performance of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Here, weshow an enhancement in the luminescence efficiency of a green OLED by employingsilver nanoparticles without an optical microcavity effect. The enhancedphotoluminescence and exciton decay rate support the idea that the improvedluminescence efficiency is due to the increased spontaneous emission rate of the emitter. Our results indicate that the plasmonic near-field interaction of thelight-matter can be a strong engineering tool for high-efficiency organic optoelectronic devices in the displayindustry.
